Our rockpool safaris have proven popular with islanders and visitors, and focus on allowing you to explore the Isle of Wight’s amazing intertidal zone, where you can discover a rich diversity of marine life from blennies and dahlia anemones to velvet crabs, sea slugs and even grey seals!

You’ll have the chance to observe and get hands on with our marine life, learning about their biology, habitats and just how wild our seas can be! All sightings we record are submitted to the island’s local biological records scheme, providing valuable data on our under-recorded marine biodiversity!

So far our rockpool safaris have recorded and encountered 150+ marine species around the Isle of Wight! These have included rare sightings of species such as straight-nosed pipefish, montagu’s sea snails and black-headed shrimp, alongside everything from catshark eggcases to bobtail squid!

They are a perfect way to simply enjoy our marine life, learn more about life in the island’s waters and contribute to protecting our local seas!
